Setnote is committed to being straightforward about how your data is handled. This policy explains what information we collect, how it’s used, and what rights you have over it.
Setnote requires an account to use the app. Authentication is handled through Apple ID via Sign in with Apple. We do not create or manage passwords. Apple handles the authentication process and we receive only a unique identifier associated with your Apple ID — we do not receive your email address or any other personal information from Apple unless you explicitly choose to share it.
All workout data you enter into Setnote — including exercises, sets, weights, reps, duration, and notes — is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit framework. This means your data lives in your iCloud, not on our servers. We do not own, control, or have access to your workout data. Apple’s iCloud infrastructure handles storage and syncing across your devices.
Because your data is stored in your iCloud account, it remains yours regardless of your subscription status. If you cancel your subscription, you lose access to premium features but your workout history stays exactly where it is — in your iCloud. Only you can delete it.
This website uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the site — for example, which pages are viewed, which links and buttons are clicked, and roughly where traffic comes from. This helps us improve the site and our beta rollout.
Google Analytics collects information such as a randomized identifier, the pages you visit, the link or button you click, the referring source, your approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address — we do not store your full IP), and your device and browser type. We have disabled Google’s advertising features and data-sharing options, so this information is used only for our own website analytics. It is not used to build advertising profiles and is not shared with advertising networks.
Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them using the cookie banner. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in a privacy-preserving, cookieless mode (Google Consent Mode), and you can decline at any time. See “Cookies and consent” below.
This website analytics is separate from the Setnote app. Inside the app, your workout data is handled as described above and is never sent to Google Analytics. We may in future use aggregate in-app analytics to understand feature usage, and we will update this policy if we introduce specific in-app tools.
A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. This website uses cookies only for the website analytics described above — we do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. If you decline, no analytics cookies are stored and analytics runs in a cookieless mode that does not identify you.
You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s cookies and local storage in your browser, which makes the consent banner appear again, or by blocking cookies through your browser settings.
We may use crash reporting tools to identify and fix bugs. Crash reports typically include device type, iOS version, and a stack trace of the error. They do not include your workout data or personal information. We will update this policy when we introduce specific crash reporting tools.
Setnote does not display ads inside the app. We do run advertisements on social media platforms to acquire new users. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or share your data with any advertising platforms.
Setnote offers optional subscription plans that unlock premium features. All billing is handled entirely by Apple through their in-app purchase system. We do not have access to your payment information. For subscription management, billing inquiries, or cancellations, visit your Apple ID settings.
Since your workout data is stored in your personal iCloud account, you control it entirely. You can delete your data at any time through the app or through your iCloud settings. If you delete the app, your data remains in iCloud until you choose to remove it. We do not retain copies of your workout data on our end.
To request deletion of your account or any data associated with your Apple ID in our system, contact us at hellosetnote@gmail.com.
Setnote is intended for users 18 years of age and older. While the app contains no age-restricted content, it is designed with adults in mind. We encourage anyone under 18 to consult with a trusted parent or guardian before using the app or making any subscription decisions. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your data is protected by Apple’s iCloud security infrastructure, which includes end-to-end encryption for certain data categories. We encourage you to use a strong Apple ID password and enable two-factor authentication on your Apple account.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about this privacy policy or how your data is handled, contact us at hellosetnote@gmail.com.
